Call for Participation in the International Ocean Human Resource Development Project. By OPRI Ocean Policy Research Institute

There is still time for under 30 ECOPs and students to apply for this opportunity to cruise the Caribbean waters.

The Ocean Policy Research Institute (OPRI) of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation sees the development of ocean leaders who will promote the sustainable use of our ocean for the next generation as an urgent issue and is working from 2022 to support 100 young people over five years and to provide programs that will contribute to the development of the next generation of leaders in the ocean world. This time, by providing young people with the opportunity to board a vessel sailing in Caribbean waters, the program will give them a chance to see the current situation and issues in the islands and deepen their understanding of the actual situation, as well as share the process of reaching a consensus for action and deepen mutual understanding by introducing the maritime issues in their region and discussing solutions to those issues.

While aboard the vessel (Passenger ship PACIFIC WORLD), participants will be asked to bring their local ocean issues, share them with other participants and the general public on board, and deepen the discussion for concrete action. They will also participate in cultural experiences and climate and maritime action programs at the ports of call and report back on their discussions at a later date.
