The Black in Marine Sciences (BIMS) is excited to announce applications for the 2025 Tidal Wave Program are now open. The purpose of the tidal wave program is to bring BIMS community members of all levels to conferences to network and present with their peers at no cost to them.
Each year, the BIMS Tidal Wave program will select 40 applicants to participate in workshops, one of which will take place during BIMS Week, to strengthen their professional foundation and attend a scientific conference in 2025. There are no limitations on who can apply, and we envision each cohort (wave) being multigenerational (undergrads, graduate students, working professionals, and even retirees).
Black in Marine Science (BIMS) is a non-profit organization that promotes diversity in marine science. By celebrating, centering, and amplifying the work and voices of Black scientists, BIMS is bringing environmental awareness to new audiences and inspiring the next generation of marine science professionals.
BIMS Week‘s primary goal is to foster an environment where scientists can enhance their research skills and prioritize their well-being. We firmly believe that a balanced approach to professional and emotional wellness directly contributes to achieving remarkable research outcomes.
BIMS Week will take place December 1-7, 2024, at the Paradise Point Resort in San Diego, CA!
